Kenya Power announces scheduled maintenance interruptions a day or three in advance, as images on X and short-lived PDFs. They vanish into the feed. Nobody could say which wards carry the most maintenance burden, how long a typical interruption runs, or whether their area’s experience is normal. Pawa Switch turns that ephemeral stream into a public record: every planned interruption since March 2023, extracted, geocoded to ward level, joined with population and infrastructure, and republished as open data.

It is built for researchers and journalists first: every view has a stable URL, every metric has a documented formula, every event links back to the original notice. Businesses use the reliability scores for site decisions; residents can simply search their estate.

What this is not: a live outage tracker (planned interruptions only), an official KPLC service, or a feeder-level electrical model. Read the methodology for what the numbers can and cannot say.
